Just few days ago when I checked my daughter’s winter outfit, I recognized that I missed to share with you one tunic. It’s my knitwear from last year, when I was preparing my daughter for the cold winter, but it wasn’t so cold.
I can’t find any step-by-step pictures, but I hope my sketches will be helpful for you.
I wanted to make horizontal cable stitches on the bottom of tunic, so I knitted two rectangle shapes with cable stitches (one for the front and one for the back sides).
(the first rectangle shows how to knit, the second one – how it will be used in the knitwear)
Then I collected the stitches (from the longer side of knitted rectangle) and knitted up with Stockinette Stitch. I collected all the stitches for the back side, but for the front – I left few gaps of rectangle ant put some extra stitches for making pockets in the future.
And I knitted it the same way as any sweater just a little bit longer.
After that, I knitted one more rectangle with cable stitch for the high-neck and 2 strips of one cable to make nice sleeves edges. And for the pockets, I collected stitches on double pointed knitting needles and knitted as long, as deep my pockets would be.
Finally, I sew all parts together, made buttonholes and stitched 2 buttons, one for each pocket.
