DIY Christmas Ornaments 2

Inspired by Ilona’s post DIY Christmas fabric ornaments I wanted to try something similar myself. And here are two sets of Christmas ornaments I made yesterday.

Firstly I made 2 ornaments with buttons. We bought these buttons to our e-Craft Bay shop, and they all came damaged. But, I decided to keep them for some button crafts and yesterday was the perfect time to use them.

Materials (for 1 button ornament):

  • 1 polystyrene balls (4cm diameter);
  • 36 buttons (13.5mm);
  • some beads (might be change with small bowls or small flowers);
  • piece of string;
  • piece of ribbon;
  • feathers;
  • hot glue.

Firstly, insert the string thought the button holes, make a knob (it will be ornament hook) and glue it on the polystyrene ball.

Secondly, one by one glue-on the buttons to cover the ball completely.

Thirdly, glue-on small beads to cover spaces between buttons.

 And finally, tie up ribbon around the hook string with feather in the middle and glue it to the button holding hook string.

After buttons ornaments were done, I made few more using reused silk ribbon to cover the balls.

  • piece of ribbon;

Secondly, keep wrapping, twisting and glueing the ribbon until the ball is all covered and then cut of the ribbon you don’t need.

Thirdly, glue the bead trim on the ball (horizontally).

Fourthly, make a hook. Take a peace of ribbon and fold it leaving one end longer. Make a knob, but before securing it insert a feather in the middle of the knob and then secure it.

And finally, glue the hook together with a flower on the top of your ornament.

P.S. If you are going to make making any of these ornaments, please post your photos below. We all would love to see them. 🙂
